Essayist was born from the struggles we faced as students trying to juggle research, writing, and deadlines. We're a small team of former students based in Canada, and we know firsthand how challenging academic work can be. That's why we created Essayist: to make academic writing and research easier, faster, and more enjoyable.

One of the biggest pain points we experienced was dealing with references & citations— switching formats, double-checking guidelines, and wrestling with clunky tools just to get references right. With Essayist, we aim to take the hassle out of formatting, so you can focus on what really matters: your writing.

As a team, we're passionate about building software that not only works well, but feels good to use. We believe tools for academics should be just as beautiful and intuitive as the best-designed apps out there.

Our mission is to make Essayist the ultimate app for academic writing and research—a tool we wish we'd had when we were students. We're committed to continuous improvement, user feedback, and delivering the highest quality product possible.
